Check out our awesome costumes! We all came dressed as the theme for our team and took part in 13 different activities. Well done to the 'Hippy' team that won the Amazing Race.

Incredible
Wow, it's freezing today. I went outside. Snow and hail was all around Oakura. The Kiatake Ranges were snowed out! It was one degree in the car. I went to the beach and the beach had snow all over it. It was fun! By OS

Puke Ariki Visit
Today we visited Puke Ariki and experienced what it was like for children in the 1800s. Here are some things we learnt:
The children had to milk the cows, collect the eggs, empty the chamber pot and do the washing.
The teachers were very strict.
Sometimes the washing was really disgusting and dirty.
They didn't wear shoes.
They have to wear really annoying clothes like vests and shirts.
They had to use a pump to get the fire going a bit more.
The ladies had a guard in front of them to stop them from getting hot when they were knitting or sewing. They were not allowed to have red cheeks.
The boys in school had to do gun lessons.
They had a special toothbrush drill.
The windows were really high in schools so that the children didn't look out.
They had to do work outside sometimes because they didn't have much light inside.
