Pukeiti Visit - written by the Bloggers of the Week

On Tuesday the 7th of May our class went to Pukeiti. First we went into the classroom and learnt about Creepy Crawlies. The instructor showed us how to make a pitfall trap.  Then we went outside to have a look at a couple that had been set. In the traps there were a couple of arachnids and insects.

Next we went to a large spot and we were told to find a spot where we could build a hut if we were living in pioneer times. The girls chose the best spot because no water would go down inside the tent and no trees would fall on it on a windy day.

We went into the rainforest and saw the Rata tree. All of Room 6, 27 people, could fit inside the hole in the Rata tree! While we were walking back to the classroom we found out that we could eat a couple of plants in the rainforest. One was the fern and the other was a koru. The koru tasted like lettuce!

Lastly we shovelled up a plant from the ground that we got to take back to school. We went into the classroom and talked about our day.

The trip was awesome, exciting and fantastic.
